Alternative metal band, Ravenscroft have just released their latest studio album, See Through via Pavement Entertainment. Drawing influences from bands like Disturbed, Sevendust, and Godsmack, Ravenscroft delivers the kind of music that is unapologetically brutal and honest.
See Through consists of five brand new original tracks, two remixes of the aforementioned original music, and a really cool and inspired cover of a Nine Inch Nails classic.
Opening the album is the blistering “Always Falling.” Thunderous drum beats paired with big metal riffs lead the way for vocalist Ralph Buso to bring his dark and raspy voice to the forefront. Beyond the rasp, there is a beautiful melodic quality to his voice, especially when the chorus hits. Great way to open the album.
“Anything” is an excellent track with a slightly slower tempo and beautiful guitar work courtesy of axeman, Brett Gore. Chorus is extremely infectious and will have you singing along immediately.
Title track, “See Through” and “Vengeance is Mine” both have killer and undeniable heavy groove that definitely shows that Disturbed influence. I also picked up on elements of Mudvayne in the vocals.
The band makes a bold statement by covering Nine Inch Nails and their classic, “Head Like A Hole.” Great cover that doesn’t stray too far from the original, though they do beef up those guitars and drums to give it more of a traditional metal feel.
The album closes out with remixes of “Anything” and “See Through.” The electronic synth elements really add depth to each track and give them a whole different life.
Overall, See Through is a solid hard rock album that would be a welcome addition to your music collection. Ravenscroft delivered the goods and they are well on their way to making a name for themselves in the scene.
