Live music and touring have been on lockdown and fans as well as artists are going through withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists right now. What we came up with is something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. They’re not your typical interview questions, so it gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with The Devil Makes Three frontman Pete Bernhard.

Life on the road; 5 of your craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories:
Honestly, I can’t remember a single tour story at this very moment. Maybe all the months off of work have taken all of those memories out of my head. I’ve been touring for about 18 years so it gets a little blurry. The truth about touring is that (hate to disappoint you folks) it mostly consists of waiting around for something to happen in a van, a bus or a very small room with weird stuff drawn on the walls.
Hotels, long drives and hanging out in an alleyway in a not very nice part of town. The best part is the music and the playing live for people. In my opinion, the rest is just what we do to get there. Sometimes strange things happen, every day there is a new thing that goes wrong but it’s worth it if you love the music.
5 favorite movies
The Princess Bride
The Big Lebowski
American Astronaut
Snatch
Blade Runner
Also, how are you spending your time during the pandemic?,
I have been reading lots of books, listening to records, gardening and generally contemplating the state of the world. Catching up on fixing things that have broken in the last 7 years.
Are you working on new music?
Yes indeed, I just released a solo album called Harmony Ascension Division in April and I am working on writing while I’m off the road.
The solo album is available via my website www.petebernhard.com/music
The album was recorded in the mountains of Vermont and was a blast to make. It’s a record about my friends some of whom are no longer with us and some who are still around.
