Live music and touring have been on lockdown and fans as well as artists are going through withdrawals. We wanted to come up with something fun to help bridge that distance between fans and artists right now. What we came up with is  something called The Lockdown Lowdown and it’s a Q&A session with fun questions for artists to answer. They’re not your typical interview questions, so it gives you a peek inside of the artists themselves. We’re big music nerds here at I’m Music Magazine and we love learning things like this about the artists that we love. We’re pretty sure that you’ll get a kick out of these, so we hope you’ll take the time to read them. In this installment, we sat down for a fun Q&A session with Vintage Trouble frontman Ty Taylor.

Life on the road; 5 of your craziest/funniest/scariest tour stories:

For all of my favorite tour stories I would need to get clearance from other participants before I could let them out into the ethos. I will say that most of the memories that make me smile the most are of the band and crew on the bus together going from place to place partying and sharing stories in the back lounge. It’s such a good time sanctuary.

Also, how are you spending your time during the pandemic?,

Dreaming about getting on the road and connecting with fans again and seeing foreign places. Learning how to garden. Writing songs. Lots of time connecting with family over Facetime. Learning how to cook things I’ve always been curious about.  Exercise. Hiking. Getting my home recording studio up to professional standards.

Are you working on new music? If so, can you reveal any details?

Vintage Trouble finished writing and recording most of our new record before lockdown.  It’s been great to have the creative refuge of working on getting the tunes and records up to release ready.  The body of work makes me really proud.

Amidst the pandemic, Vintage Trouble has released a new song and video that benefits The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Their new song “Outside-In,” which Frontman Ty Taylor says was written to shine a light on the mental health effects of isolation amidst the pandemic, is now on all DSPs. Their powerful video chronicling the making of the song from each member’s quarantine homes is also available here:

Inspired by conversations with loved ones in quarantine and recent study of the work of Maya Angelou, “Outside-In” is the song of a caged bird lamenting its imprisonment. Taylor said, “We were thinking about ways to not only reach out to and coddle the souls of our stressed and distressed TroubleMakers, but at the same time to exercise our undying passion for creating, arranging, recording, performing and most importantly, connecting.
