The Dan Reed Network are set to release their sixth studio album Let’s Hear it For the King via Drakkar Entertainment on Friday, June 17th . The follow up to 2018’s Origins sees the band return with their ‘heaviest, funkiest and most melodic DRN album to date’, according to the man himself. Produced by Dan Reed and Rob Daiker at The Commune Studio in Portland, Oregon, the anticipated release features 13 songs of funk, hard rock and infectious pop tunes to inspire a diverse effort for The Network.
The album opens with the anthemic “Pretty Karma” with raging guitars, funky beats and the radio- friendly choruses that leave the listener pondering what’s next. The answer is “The Ghost Inside” with a similar formula. Reed’s vocals are as smooth and enticing as fans would come to expect. The single “Starlight” changes course with hook-laden riffs and a singalong chorus that is reminiscent of 1980s Def Leppard. The first half of the album is pop-friendly tunes with funky basslines and mesmerising electronics before the second half picks up the intensity.
“Homegrown” oozes coolness with soulful vocals, an anthemic chorus and an edgy guitar sound. “Just Might Get It” is a heart-warming rock track full of sincerity and defiance. The track continues producing anthemic tunes with top production values bringing out the quality of the music. Other highlights include, the foot-stomping “Are You Ready,” the bluesy “Unfuck the World” and the mellow sounds on the final track “Last Days of Saturn” complete this much- anticipated journey for Mr Reed and co.
Overall, Let’s Hear for The King keeps to its promises of an album full of rich, melodies and funkiness that won’t disappoint loyal followers of the Network.
