Mother Nature interveined and delayed the REO Speedwagon, STYX and Loverboy show at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek (long enough name for ya’?) in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 7. Loverboy’s set was cut short and then the venue was partially evacuated and we waited. This summer has proven to be exceptionally bad for weather delays at concerts. We were eventually given the thumbs up and everyone went back in and waited for the show to begin. STYX took the stage and played their hit filled set and then after a short intermission, REO Speedwagon took to the stage. The band’s setlist was packed full of hits that spanned the band’s entire career. Hi Infidelity, the band’s most successful album to date, featured prominently throughout their set with four songs being included. Frontman Kevin Cronin still has it and was moving around all over the stage. The band sounded pretty damn awesome as they helped us time travel from the 70s back to modern day during their set. The city was very gracias to allow them to play past the 11:00pm curfew without fining them because of the weather delay. That allowed both STYX and REO enough time to play their entire sets.
