Shaman’s Harvest rode into Raleigh, North Carolina to the Ritz Raleigh as the openers for Theory of a Deadman on March 11, 2022. The guys were out on the road doing dates in support of their new album Rebelator which came out on the day of this show. In a way, this was their album release party, which lead vocalist Nathan Hunt made reference to during their set. The guys had a short (eight songs) set, but damn they were tight which is hard to believe given that they hadn’t been on the road long before this show. There are some bands who are out there playing and they have “road rust” because it’s been a while since they’ve been out, but not these guys. Half of their set consisted of tracks from the new album. They opened with one helluva one-two punch with “Bird Dog” and then “Voices.” Damn! Nathan Hunt has a rather unique quality to his voice that draws you in on the records, but grabs you by the throat live in concert demanding your attention. The crowd was into them from the start, but you could see more and more people really getting into it as their set progressed. It looked to me as if they converted quite a few people into fans before their set was complete. The guys closed with a rather unique version of “Dragonfly” that began as an acoustic version of The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes.” It suddenly transitioned into “Dragonfly” so effortlessly that you’d think it was meant to be that way. Shout-out to our buddy Cord Bishop of T.R.O.Y. (The Reality of Yourself) who is out playing bass for the guys. As soon as it was over, I went back to their merch table. ‘Which album is that ‘Bird Dog’ song on?’ was overheard as well as quite a few positive comments about the band and ‘how cool the lead singer’s voice is.’ For me, eight songs just wasn’t enough! I can’t wait for these guys to get on a co-headlining or, even better, headlining tour so that they can expand their setlist. Patience young grasshopper, patience. This was Rebelator’s official release day, so I know once its out there for a while that it will happen. These guys are so good and well deserving of bigger and better things.
